Creating pinecones+hand-me-downs has been a changing and growing process. As part of the companies mission I have combined hobby, with livelihood. As it seems the Gods have intended for livelihood, and what we enjoy doing, to go hand-in-hand.

pinecones+hand-me-downs is in homage to The Color Fairy Books, as I have felt there is something special about these tales. They provide a sense of security while telling the things we don’t always want to hear about. As I have searched the web and done research on fairy tales, their popularity is amiss in comparison to how much they are loved.

The companies is—

To make fairy stories and other myths and magic more widely accessible to all, and applying these fairy stories to hobby exploration for employees current and future— in order to combine a hobby and/or interest with a means of livelihood and personal support; while sharing this growing knowledge, of hobby exploration into a means of livelihood, with others.

One day Eostre the goddess was walking through the woods. She happened across a hen who was helpless and injured. She did everything she could to help this hen. She tried healing her, feeding her medicine and healthy food, and even singing to her. Lastly she decided the only way to save the hen was to turn her into a hare.

The hen grew white downy fur, long wide ears, and large thumpy feet. One thing didn't change however: she could still lay eggs!

She became Eostre's bunny, and every year to mark the anniversary of Eostre saving her, Ostara, she dyed her eggs beautiful colors and hid them around the woods for Eostre to find. This was her thank you gift to Eostre.

To this day children all over the world thank Eostre for the beautiful transformations about to come in the spring by dying eggs for Eostre. Eostre's bunny will sometimes hide them for the children when they are unaware.

If you decide to dye eggs for Eostre, and your most beautiful egg is never found, maybe Eostre's bunny took it back to Eostre for you.
